Located in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the CN Tower held the record for the world’s tallest free-standing structure for 31 years before being surpassed by the Burj Dubai on September 12, 2007. It is a communications and tourist tower that stands 1,815.39 feet and attracts more than two million international visitors annually.

Construction began on February 10, 1973 with four months spent on creating the foundation. The Tower was completed on April 2, 1975 after 26 months of construction. It opened to the public on June 26, 1976 and cost $63 million (Canadian at the time and $330 million in 2005).

Over the years, the area around the Tower was developed including the introduction of the Metro Toronto Convention Center, the SkyDome, and, in recent years, an increase in condominium construction. In 1995, the CN Tower was declared one of the modern Seven Wonders of the World and belongs to the World Foundation of Great Towers.
